This is a clock-time estimate. Daylight saving changes, overtime rules and payroll rounding are not included. Use actual dates and employer rules where these matter.
How it works
Duration = finish minutes − start minutes + 1,440 if finishing the next day. The unpaid break is then subtracted. Decimal hours = payable minutes ÷ 60.
A quick example
09:00 to 17:30 with a 30-minute break is 8 hours, or 8.00 decimal hours.
Good to know
How do I enter an overnight shift?
Choose “Next day” for the finish day. For example, 22:00 to 06:00 is eight hours before breaks.
Is 7 hours 30 minutes the same as 7.30 hours?
No. It is 7.5 decimal hours because 30 minutes is half an hour.
